Year 6 Careers day 2023

As part of the Year 6 careers day initiative, the Year 6 children were given the opportunity to meet and interview 3 parents from different professions and fields of work. They met a dentist/entrepreneur, a football coach/bodyguard and a care worker. The parents spoke about their careers and how they reached their goals. The children were really engaged and inspired by the professionals. They asked intriguing questions and took a keen interest in finding out more about these careers. Children challenged typical stereotypes by asking key questions such as whether or not women are found in careers such as football coaching. They were left inspired with the knowledge that women are increasing in many fields of work. We hope that this experience plants seeds of high aspirational goals into our children.

Colchester Zoo Trip

The Early years children had an amazing trip to Colchester Zoo. This trip was linked to our topic on `Animals’. We discovered and observed various animals that we have been learning about throughout our topic stories. The children and adults persevered walking in the summer weather and we had lots of fun. Well done Early years!

Trip to Cambridge University

As part of the school’s promotion to aspire to do great things and have high expectations, the Year 5 and 6 children visited Cambridge University (Clare college). They had the opportunity to experience the life of a university student and discover the opportunities that universities provide. There was a tour of the university, lunch was provided, and children took part in an art-based activity drawing a Triptych of Clare college.

Alhumdullilah this trip had a positive impact on the children as they came back wanting to go to university in the future and even attend Cambridge!
