Year 6 Careers day 2022

As part of the Year 6 careers day initiative, the Year 6 children were given the opportunity to meet and interview 2 parents from different professions and fields of work. They met a dentist/ entrepreneur and an electrician. The parents spoke about their careers and how they reached their goals. The children were really engaged and inspired by the professionals. They asked intriguing questions and took a keen interest in finding out more about these careers. Children challenged typical stereotypes by asking key questions such as whether or not women are found in these careers. They were left inspired with the knowledge that women are increasing in these careers. We hope that this experience plants seeds of high aspirational goals into our children.

Transport trip

The Early years children had an amazing educational trip exploring different transports used in London. We started our journey using the 135 bus traveling towards Canary Wharf to catch the Uber boat from the pier to North Greenwich. We stopped at the 02 arena to have a lovely lunch and a little rest. We then went on the Emirate cable cars to travel towards  Royal Victoria DLR station coming back to Shadwell DLR. The kids and adults had a amazing time.

Eid Hamper Day

Pupils from Buttercup Primary School donated gift hampers for our charity project to our local elderly residents. The residents were very  pleased in receiving them.

The Royal Guest Project

Our School Councillors and Mental Health Ambassadors have teamed up for a charity project called ’The Royal Guest Project’. Our children had a budget to purchase goodies to gift our elderly residents who live alone to bring a smile to their faces.

Story telling

The teachers at Buttercup shared their favourite stories with the children. There was great excitement around the school as stories were told. It was wonderful to see the teachers spend time with the different year groups and share childhood favourites with them and prove they were once children too!

Book week in Early Years

During book week in Early Years, the Hobgoblin theatre company came to perform a show on fairy tales. The children were very excited and knew every story they performed. We also had the children from year 5 and 6 come down and read stories to them . Mid week we had a pyjama day. The children came to school wearing their pyjamas and we had cookies and milk as we listened to our favourite stories. The children really enjoyed dressing up as their favourite character on Friday and the adults all joined in too. It was great fun and a great opportunity to promote reading and story telling!

It was great to see the enthusiasm shown by the children, many went home with a book that they were interested in. We hope to continue with the book sale next year and make it bigger and better!

Our School Calm Club

Our Mental Health Ambassadors creating posters for our Calm Club.

Eco Ambassadors litter picking day

Our Eco ambassadors are taking littering issues into their own hands, after piles of rubbish started to appear nearby.

Our ambassadors didn’t want to just make posters to raise awareness but they wanted to be involved and so they proposed a school litter pick. Its fantastic to know our children care about our local community MashAllah!

It has been Narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira Radi Allahu Anhu that the, Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “While a man walks along a path, finds a thorny twig lying on the way and puts it aside, Allah would appreciate it and forgive him.”

[Sahih Muslim :: Book 33 :: Hadith 235]

Just remember this beautiful sunnah when you see a harmful thing on the road/path. Let us revive the Sunnah in every aspect of our life  Insha Allah!
