Food week for year 1 and 2
In year 1 and 2 we combined food week and international week together, focusing on the second largest continent Africa. We selected some of the most delicious tropical fruits from a previous trip to Watney market to eat for our fruit party. The fruits chosen were pineapples, grapes, watermelons, honey melons and oranges. After practicing the safe way of placing fruits in the skewers, we enjoyed choosing our favourite fruits and eating them as fruit kebabs. The impact of this lesson allowed for pupils to eat fruits that they may have not previously tasted and to understand the influence of trading between countries. Eating fruits from South Africa, Egypt and Kenya gave a whole new meaning to the daily experience of eating fruits.
