Charity Week – Water Pump Project

During Charity Week, children across the school worked together to raise money for a water pump project. Year 5 and 6 pupils played a key role by planning, preparing, and making pizzas to sell. The class teacher also took a small group shopping for ingredients, giving them valuable experience in teamwork, responsibility, and budgeting.

Pupils in leadership roles helped by organising and contributing additional items to boost fundraising efforts. Several children also generously volunteered their time to support the school fair.

Each year group contributed creatively: Early Years made gingerbread men, Years 1 and 2 prepared sweet cones, and Years 3 and 4 decorated cupcakes.

This initiative helped children develop a deeper understanding of global issues, particularly the importance of clean water and how charities support communities around the world. Throughout the week, pupils demonstrated excellent teamwork, communication, creativity, and leadership.

Most importantly, they learned the value of helping others and saw how collective effort can make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. We are proud to share that, through everyone’s hard work and generosity, enough money was raised to fund two hand water pumps.
