Mental Health Awareness Week at Buttercup

Mental health awareness week

Our Mental Health Ambassadors delivered a powerful and engaging assembly as part of Mental Health Week. Their hard work and thoughtful presentation helped raise awareness, encouraged open conversations, and reminded us of all of the importance of looking after our mental wellbeing.

As part of the week’s activities, a dedicated Mental Health Support Desk was set up to provide students with a safe and approachable space to ask questions, seek advice, or simply talk. The support desk was very well received and proved to be a valuable resource, helping many students feel heard, supported, and more confident in seeking help when needed.

One of the highlights for many children was the balloon activity, where each student chose a balloon to represent their emotions. This creative exercise encouraged self-reflection and gave pupils a fun and meaningful way to express how they were feeling

The week also included Islamic reminders to help students connect their emotional wellbeing with their faith. They were reminded of the importance of sabr (patience), shukr (gratitude), and the power of du’ah in coping with life’s challenges. Students reflected on how turning to Allah in times of difficulty can bring peace to the heart, as mentioned in the Qur’an: “Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.” (Surah Ar-Ra’d, 13:28).

We are incredibly proud of our ambassadors and the positive impact they have made across our school community, combining emotional support with spiritual growth.
